Things have been rather quiet around here lately. I could hear the grass growing and the birds singing in the garden. Trying to get the upper hand on the darn weeds is another story! Thanks to the Weedman who really zapped the weeds which were trying to grow through the interlocking bricks on the driveway following his treatment of the lawn which I must say looks rather beautiful.

This coming weekend Lil Sis and I will be in Cambridge for our high school's 50th Reunion. We are SO looking forward to renewing old friendships and having a good old gab fest.

And the sad news is... I didn't get to see the library cuz a press conference was being held just outside the library however there would be access to the library at 3:oo pm following the conference but I would be long gone.

So I ventured up to the peace tower and since it was 11:00am I got to watch the Page Turning in the Chapel. There are several large books on which is written the names of Canadian Vets from all wars and each day at 11:ooam the pages are turned. Little Sis and I were invited into the chapel on our visit 2yrs ago to watch the short ceremony as the page was turned and Dear Husband's uncle Jack's name could be viewed. He died in France in 1944.
Following that I ventured down the the rotunda and sat a while watching the dignitaries arrive for the press conference then I was off the the car and back to Stittsville to get ready for the cousins to return cuz we were going to view the tulips and have dinner at a restaurant down near the canal.

Our dinner was wonderful and the entire visit with the cousins will remain the highlight of my memory for some time.

Greetings to all. Here I am in our nation's capital, Ottawa for the tulip festival. Dear husband's cousin phoned last week and invited me to stay with them. They live in the suburb of Stittsville which is about 20minutes from Parliament Buildings.
Today I ventured downtown and drove around to view the tulips and then parked the car and climbed Parliament hill and enjoyed the view of the river and the wonderful buildings. I just love the old stone the is used in all those buildings. I tried to get in to see the library but was too late today so I will try tomorrow.
When Little Sis and I were there 2yrs. ago the library was closed for renovations and now they are completed. In that library is the most fantastic statue of the young Queen Victoria which is situated in the middle of the room . The room is circular and for safety reasons the library can be closed off from the main building with fire doors, I am very curious as to the renovations and the overall appearance of the room.

How time flies...
My baby turns 37 years old tomorrow but we celebrated the event on Sat. with a party at their house. Here is a pic of the birthday boy and #1 Son at the right.

As some of you know on my way to #2Son's house I pass through Mennonite country and this pic is a sight I saw at the gas station. I think they are telling us this will be the way of the future if gas prices continue to rise!

Safe and sound...that's me following my return trip home from Florida driving Old Bro#1's car. I had great trip and the weather was fantastic all the way.
My visit with M.E. was a much needed chit-chat and we shopped till we dropped. How time flys when your're having fun!
I left her house yelling and screeming that I didn't want to go however duty called and I did promise the next visit would be longer.

HERE SHE GOES AGAIN... Yup, I'm headin south and flying out of TO to sunny, warm Florida Monday morning. Old Bro#1 and his wife will pick my up at Orlando just after noon and we will travel to their home in Lake Wales where I will stay the night. They plan to pack the trunk of their car that evening and I will be driving it north to Toronto for them but not before I have a little visit with my dear friend M.E. and her husband for a couple of days. M.E. lives in Clearwater which is about 2&1/2 hours from Old Bro#1's house. While I'm in her area I hope to get a little shopping done and have a good ol visit with her.
I like to give myself about 2&1/2 days driving to get to Toronto then switch cars and head home.

I'm sorry I will miss seeing my friend Doodles and her husband since their BIG ADVENTURE will have begun. I wish them well and I hope to see them in August!

OUCH!!! My thumb is so sore cuz I was using the remote control yesterday afternoon to the extreme. You see just as the Mens World Championship Curling was half over the Masters Golf Tournament was starting.

Some of you know that I was a curler in my youth and not a bad one at that! I fooled around with golf over the years but in the last five years I have become more interested. As long as my old knees behave themselves I hope to enjoy another season on the links.

I was spell bound watching the awesome shots made by Team Canada skipped by Glenn Howard, Rus's younger brother, against Germany. The Canadians out played and trounced the Germans so there was no need to play the 10th end. It was a fantastic game and the score was 8 to 3.

In the Masters it saddened me to watch "Tiger Woods" miss so many shots and the way he reacted to the blunders. The winner of the tournament was a real cutie pie Zach Johnson from Iowa. I really enjoyed watching him make some great shots and the reactions when his wife and 3month old son met him at the end of the game. The "Green Jacket" suits him!

Here is a pic of two of the nicest people I know. They are the daughters of my dear friend M.E. She and I have been friends for over 53yrs. Now that is a long time. Her daughters, TJ and CA and I had a wonderful visit last week while I was in Mississauga. Both girls were so interesting to talk with and we had fun sharing memories and events going on in their lives. I can hardly wait till my next visit with them.

Well, here is one for the books! I was out walking in the neighbourhood which is in a park like setting with lots of mature trees. I spotted a flag at one residence which I thought was for Italy. I thought that maybe Italy won some competition recently. Knowing Italians weren't into cricket, that I knew of, I couldn't figure out why they had that flag up.

The woman of that house happened to pop in for a visit so I asked her what was with the Italian Flag. She cleared her throat and told me it was for their relatives that will be visiting in a couple of weeks and they are from IRELAND! I Nealy fainted!!!

I could hear my father rolling over in his grave. As some of you know I am first generation Canadian. Father was born in Scotland and raised in Ireland of Irish parents and mother was born in Scotland and raised there. They both immigrated to Canada in the late 1920's.

I think a session of studying maps would do me a lot of good now that the TV is all set up.

Life is back to normal and spring is almost here!
A visit with kids, grands and good friends and Old Bro#2 completed I got down to the business of investing in a new TV.
It is a LCD 37" (no more squinting) and sits in just the right spot close to the other home entertainment stuff. Now I have to do my homework and get the thing programed with all the other gadgets. So you can see I will be out mischief for a while.

I finally got back into the routine of being home.

It is a bright sunny day again and the storm missed us this morning so I popped down to Bayfield for breakfast at JD's and the food was great! There wasn't one place on my trip that measured up to JD's. I love having a meal there.

Enjoy the pix. The first 2 are of the lake with shore ice which is being blown in due to the north west wind which would take your head off because it is so cold. The temp is 32F and 0C but with the wind chill it feels much colder.

The second two pix are of my neighbours Lizzy and Sara holding their new puppy Nala. Their dad took care of my house while I was on the trip. They are a lovely family.

HOME SWEET HOME!

I left the Holiday Inn and fueled up the car and headed home and 8 hrs. later I was home. It is such a good feeling to be home. I had forgotten how nice it is here. As I type this there is a terrific sunset and it is shinning in my eyes. The sun is finally returning to grace us with some wonderful sunsets.

THE ARCH OF ST.LOUIS was quite a sight! I went up the arch in a very different 5 seater car with no view of the outside. It took 3mins to arrive at the top and 2&1/2 mins. to get down.

The viewing windows at the top were very limited however I did manage to get a few pix of the area including the mighty MISSISSIPPI so enjoy!

I am getting close to home and looking forward to my wee hoose!
