~~~"TAKE HEART"...Only 8 weeks of winter left~~~
I don't know where the time has gone during this winter season!
I am truly thankful for all my wonderful friends that have enriched me and kept me grounded enough to enjoy this wintry experience. I won't mention any names...you know who you are!
The scenery around my home is so beautiful that at times it takes my breath away.
Enough of my blubbering...Enjoy your day!
~~~JANUARY 18, 2005...WAS HIS LAST DAY !

It is hard to believe that it has been FOUR years since DOUG passed.
I still miss him so much that it hurts some days.

Today I ventured to the "wee bench" flopped down in the snow and made a
"Snow Angel" for him.
I felt like a little kid and loved the experience.

Say a little pray as you think of him...he was such a GREAT GUY!

~~~Beware of Storm~~~~
As usual I checked the radar online before setting out to do my work out and pickup a few groceries. It indicated a large storm mess headed our way but I knew I would have enough time to complete everything.
Part way through my venture I popped into Walmart to check out a few items and much to my surprise....where were all the people ??? At 2pm on a Sat. afternoon you would figure the place would be crowded but it wasn't.
Then I began to think...ah, they too had check the radar and had enough sense to stay home.
The snow had started and some of the roads were slick but I made it home ok. Today...yup, you guessed it I'll be romancing the snow blower following the wonderful coverage of all the Obama events this morning.
~~~CALL THIS BLOGGER THE "CRAZY CANUK"!!!

Yes do it, shake your head or shake your finger or anything else
Y'all know by now that when I take a notion for an adventure...I'm gone!!!

I accepted an invitation to visit a friend for New Years and the location was 689 km or 344 miles from my home.

The area is in the beautiful province of Quebec on Lake
Temiscaming which is a very long lake and is the head waters of the Ottawa River. The settlement is across the lake form a place in Ontario called Cobalt and New Liskeard is just 1/2 hr. north.

We took time to visit the area and all the small bays which are hidden along the lake.

The following are some of the pix I took of the trip.

Cousin Mike....get the map out you will be amazed!!!

Till next time...

All Creatures Great and Small enjoying a
New Years Eve dinner. The nocturnal "flying Squirrel",
"Goo" the stray cat and the beautiful Salmon dish that the
humans had.

~~~~THUNDER AND LIGHTENING...what next?
We are in the throws of quite an unusual storm. Minus 4c yesterday and +15c this morning the rain was pouring from the sky.
As I was watching the weather a magnificent doe came up from over the bank but before I could get the camera ready she was gone. Maybe she thought that things were dryer on the other side?
~~~~ "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL"~~~~
As you can see Grandson is just '' over the moon" with his and sisters new WII game! It didn't that then long to set it up and have a game with each other. The hooting and hollering is just so funny to hear!

I just think this pic of "Scaredie the cat" under the Christmas. Last year she caused it to fall over. This year they have the tree anchored to the wall and that is a good thing!
I really enjoy viewing the Christmas they have since it is a fiber optic and the effect is so spectacular.
Here is Grandson in one of his silly moments...and there are many!

~~~GETTING HAMMERED
AND
NO BOOZE INVOLVED!
We really got and are still getting blasted by Mother Nature.
I hope to be out of here tomorrow morning....weather permitting!
Enjoy the pix of my neighbour Al, as he cleaned out a wicked drift at the front of my driveway. I will do the rest later.
The other pix were of the back yard...don't you think Mother Nature's artistic abilities are exquisite?
In this pic you can see how the ice is forming on the coast of Lake Huron. As the wind changes the ice will flow either out or be smashed onto the beach. In the top pic you can see some frozen wave action already on the beach. In the bottom left of the pic is the Salt mine. Today was very beautiful but very, very cold...16F.
~~~~~~~~~~HERE YOU HAVE THE"BEFORE AND AFTER!"

It only took me an hour and a half to clean up with the snow blower following yesterdays storm but I fooled around...as in ...doing the neighbours drive and cutting a path down to the "wee bench" which is at the bank and you will see why when I post more pix especially of the lake!

~~~~~ A REAL SURPRISE!~~~~~
I received a Christmas card yesterday from an old colleague and dear friend, Linda.
Little did she know that the little sports car which was on the front of the card is similar
to the one I have put on my "Bucket List"! Maybe she knows something I don't?
I will use the card as part of my display board since I am trying out the "Law of Attraction"!
I may be surprised come the spring time!
~~~~Things are finally slowing down...a little... around here! LOL
My neighbours the Ramps arrived home safely from their long trip to Europe. It was so good to see them. The sad news is one of their two cats "JP"died while they were away and "Cat-Two" is very lonely. I feel sad for the animal because I know what it feels like to loose your best pal!

Our weather is somewhat milder and rain is expected so that might reduce the snow a bit for Christmas! The snow blower is always at the ready...just in case.

~~~~THE FIFTEEN RED ROSES....AND 14 STONES~~~~
Were placed at a memorial tree in our
Court House Park in memory of the 14 young women who were massacred at the hands of Mark Lapine on Dec. 6, 1989.
God Rest Their Souls!
This young woman Jen, is a grade 12 student who was so moved when she learned about the terrible event that happened to those women in Montreal that she has taken on the responsibility of sharing this sad story with her peers at school for past few years.
