~~~Ok! Below is the "QUILT" completed and ready to present to my dear daughter-in-law for her Birthday which is on Monday Feb. 1. I am so blessed that she is in my life.
I love you Tanya!
I can hear Y'all asking why that style of quilt well, here's the scoop!
While visiting "Twin Oaks" the residence of # 2 Son and his family, over Christmas I begged to do some mending and I had the privilege of fixing dear grandson's jeans. The fabric left over I was to told to take it home with me.
As I was putting the jean fabric away I spotted my 'stash' and there was a load of denim which came from old cut up jeans of dear husband. A light bulb went off in my brain ....a quilt for Tanya.
A few years ago she told me that she had seen a "rag quilt" while visiting grandson's school and that she really liked it.
I have the basic quilting skills so I thought I didn't need to take a course on how to make a 'rag quilt'. However I did consult "YouTube" and bingo....there was everything I needed to know so I fired up the sewing machine and got to work.
There is no 'quilting' involved just a whole lot of piecing and clipping and I think it turned out just fine.
As you can see in the pix below the size of the quilt is 'lap' size. I have yet to do a quilt for a single, double, king or queen sized beds.....maybe some day.
This project has kept my mind off of my up coming vacation....the Olympics....
Only 3 weeks till I leave....Woo Hoo.
Till next time.....
~~~THE SQUALLS CON'T!
I will be romancing the "snow blower" for quite awhile today! Then I think I'll send all the snow out to Whistler Mountain for the Olympics. I have read that the temps out there have been raising. Nephew, who lives in Vancouver with whom I will be staying during my visit, assured me that the athletes are used to these conditions since it happens often in Europe and they train and compete there throughout the year.
Then I'll finish the new quilt. I will show pix of the recent effort after Monday. It has been and interesting project.
Tomorrow evening I'm off to a celebration of ROBBIE BURNS'S birth. I am really looking forward to it. I have a choice of four tartans that I could wear but I think I'll wear my fav which is the ancient Lindsay.
Every hour they will be bring out a different 'single malt whiskey' and free taxi service home....woo hoo......
With the swirl of the 'pipes' and all that dancing I will be one sleepy lassie!
"LANG MAY YER LUM REEK'!
The next day, Ground Hog Day, Sunday I'm off to #2 Son's to celebrate dear daughter-in-law's birthday which happens on Monday.
Stay safe and warm to Y'all....oops! I mean for me to stay safe and warm...LOL!
Till next time...

~~~~HOLY SNAPPING WHITEOUTS!!!!
Today of all days I forgot to check the weather radar before leaving for town.
I have a remote start for my car and I often just start up the car get coat and boots on grab my workout bag and off I go.
Well, I did just that and there wasn't any snow on the car so everything was good until I headed down my street (it's really a lane) and I spotted the whiteouts around the airport which happens every now and then but then the entire Airport road was a whiteout.
I can hear you saying so why didn't a turn around happen?
You see I had committed to doing the warm up at the Y and a package was waiting for me at the Post Office and I needed gas....anyway often the whiteouts just stop which did happen part way down Airport Rd. but then everything went WHITE!
YIKES!!! Now at this point I realized that I was at Hwy. 21 and there was a break in the snow so ....some of you know my pioneer spirit....I thought just go for it which I did with "flashers" going on my car till I got to town all safe and sound.
In town things were not as bad as out in the country and I did find out that the school buses were cancelled from the Postal Person. The town was somewhat quiet....duh....snow squalls.
Mission accomplished....got the parcel, had a workout and got fueled up!
The squalls continued all day till late afternoon then the sun came out.
It was another wild ride home and of course Hwy.21 is closed passed Airport Rd.
I made it home just fine and now with sharper driving skills...
Gee, I love winter and the challenges it presents......
Till next time....
~~~~I APOLOGIZE.....
I've been a little slack at posting and my reason.....LIFE kinda got in the way!
Along with the routine of each day I have added some quilting.
I can't discuss it too much I don't want to give away the surprise. I will post pix after the event.
Enough said....
Enjoy the pix that follow....

~~~~"WITHDRAWAL FROM USING THE INTERNET" .....an experience to remember!
Sunday Jan. 3 found me without my beloved PC. It had a nasty virus which took sometime to get rid of. I also had my new printer, scanner and fax machine installed by the 'PC doctor' and his trusty assistant.
Things seemed to be going ok until an internet problem occurred and that's when I found out that I needed two modems.
Yesterday found me sitting in a cozy nook at the Library with my laptop which, by the way I had to pick up from dear daughter-in-law in Cambridge along with some other errands....oops....I digress!
So today having everything hooked up and ready to rip didn't the dang internest service go down....."It never rains but it pours"!
~~~HERE'S YOUR WAKE UP CALL!!! It is winter in South western Ontario and some of us are lovin it!
After one and a half hours of using my snowblower and enjoying a good cardio workout doing it I had to pop into town to gas up my car and run some errands.
As I was working on the snow job my neighbour Dave was heading into town and stopped to ask if would leave some of the job for him to do....see we do enjoy this season and I love to share!
These pix of Airport Road as I was heading into town.
