YIKES........BRRRRRRR!

I spotted these guys surfing in Lake Huron at Bayfield. The air temp was 13c I don't know what the water temp was but it looked too cold for me.

The two guys mentioned that it wasn't as cold as what they were used to in, of all places, B.C. They mentioned that they were wishing for bigger waves and said that today was just too nice......

Till next time......

~~~
Lulu has been vacuumed and she is just waiting for her final 'bath' before going to bed for the winter. And what a cozy bed she has too all snuggled up with bounce dryer sheets to prevent little critters from invading her space. I'm storing her battery in the house.
I'll let everyone know if she puts up a fuss going to bed.......giggle, giggle!
~~~~~Lulu and I were bootin through the country side and we came upon this little shack.
Of course we fit right in since Lulu was 'topless' so many of the folks we passed waved and smiled!

Keep scrolling down to view so many of the great pix I've posted from this weekend!

I took a few minutes and posted some pix of some of the things around my house that give me pleasure.

ENJOY!

How do you like these gorgeous begonias in the front window box?
They are still doing very well. Now I just have to remember to water them.

This beauty is just one begonia and it has really enjoyed the season on that old table on the patio.

Much to my surprise I get to enjoy the colour of the leaves right out my own back door.
Can you see that little 'splash' of colour?

~~~~Another week has slipped by and I almost forgot to post about the great weekend I had.
This event was at the CAW complex in Port Elgin.
There were four bands and they each performed on Saturday afternoon and then again in the evening but in a different rotation.
All four were great but my favorite was the Toronto All Star Big Band which comprised of all young people. And you thought Big
Band music was dying out.....take heart....the music LIVES in those youngsters.
This is the Lighthouse Swing Band and the singer is little 'dynamo ' Shelley Parker. I couldn't believe that she is 80yrs old. She is a real
'pistol' and can she every belt out the tunes.
Here's Shelly doing her thing.
~~~~MARY AND FLORA.....

Last evening I had the privilege of attending a gathering that my association sponsored and Flora MacDonald was the speaker.

I met Flora in 1985 at the Cambridge Highland Games and at that time I had my picture taken with her. I can't believe that she is 84years of age...the same age as our Queen.

She shared with everyone about her work with women and children in Afghanistan and I was truly amazed.
Flora is a remarkable woman!

Thank you Flora for all the remarkable work you do and thanks for the photo op!

If you want to check out some info about Flora Google her bio......she was a politician.

Have a look at some to the changes happening with the trees in our area. It is very slow as compared to areas in land because of the influence of the Lake.

~~~~ Doesn't seem like Labour Weekend!
For the last day and a half there have been very strong winds and the temps have dropped and I am not sorry to feel the change.
Dear Husband would have referred to the winds and said, "The jets have landed on the front lawn Dearie"!
Along with the wind has come rain and we do need it. It was two weeks since my grass was cut and now the lawn is coming back to life.
In case you are looking for me I'll be at my sewing machine working on a quilting project and it is getting so interesting. Gee, I do love a challenge especially when it has to do with sewing and ironing.
If you were wondering about Lulu well she is enjoying a much welcomed rest and a lovely bath from all the rain. I think she was getting tired of going 'topless' everyday!
Till next time.....
~~~ "The Gathering of the Bands" which was held in Kincardine last week. Lulu and I headed up and I had a wonderful time.
Victoria Park is a large area with many mature trees and a huge gazebo on which the bands performed.

The first up was The Toronto Big Band and they played for two hours. The band was made up of musicians and singers who were all under 25 years of age. It was fantastic to see those young people caring on the tradition from that era.

I did have pix however as I downloaded them, I thought that everything was ok, but Eastlink my provider must have gone down and I deleted them from my camera card...................so no pix.

There is a lot of constructed road work happening around our entrance to highway 21 and last week a cable was severed....yup, you guessed it phone and internet service was out for several hours. All services are ok now.

Till next time......

~~~~WHAT A NIGHTMARE I'VE BEEN THROUGH......
Upon returning home after a weekend of celebrations with grandson I found that my internet and telephone were 'DOWN'!
I called the cable company using my cell phone and it wasn't long till I had both phone and Internet connections for about 2hrs then all was dead again! After going though the same process once again all was well and I told them that I didn't need a 'tech guy'........WRONG MOVE!
I had errands to take care of all day on Monday so I wasn't home most of the day and when I left all was well with my pc and phone. In the evening NOTHING! Both were dead again!
I decided to forget about them till the morning. Everything was fine on Tuesday and off I went about my day. That evening....NOTHING AGAIN! I decided to forget it for now and take care of it on Wednesday. That following morning everything was 'A OK' till ......you guessed it that evening and I had had such a fantastic day that ended on yet another sour note with no phone or Internet. That was it for me I decided to use my cell and call the company AGAIN!
During the first call which lasted about 10min......they put me on hold......the cell went dead.
Tried again with another tech person ( you don't get the same person with different calls) and the phone died again. I tried one last time and nothing! Cell phone dead....home phone dead...Internet dead......I did survive and went to bed!!!!!!
ENOUGH ALREADY I headed into town to the office and explained my story yet again and they arranged for an emergency tech visit that very afternoon. WOOO HOOO!
When the guy arrived and checked out the situation and found that the 'signal' was way too weak so he hooked up a new line from a closer connection box. Now this leads to a whole new 'can of worms" however I do have a complete connection and strong signal for both Internet and phone!
Details on the 'new can of worms'!
I live in a rural setting which means I have a septic system and to know where the 'weeping bed ' is located would be very helpful since the new coax cable the guy installed will have to be sunk into the ground.
Next move was it to call the company that treats septic systems which I did and they are coming this afternoon. Now I am wishing for a strong east wind then L'll Sis and Hubby will not have to smell the wholesome aroma once the lid is off the septic tank and the guy starts to remove the contents. I'll keep you posted.....
In the mean time please enjoy some pix of grandson's 'Rite of Passage"!
Till next time....
