~~~~ WHAT A "BLAST"!
This past weekend I had the privilege of meeting up with L'll Sis and hubby's "Florida family".
Helen and Russ invited everyone for a two day get together during "Boat Fest" in Port Huron where they live.
We all arrived on Fri. and had a good old 'gab' fest ourselves. It was good to see everyone especially the 'honeymooners'!
After we had dinner and got settled into our motel then we spread ourselves into three vehicles and headed off to see the sights of all the wonderful sail boats from all over the world.
Each boat had their slip on the Black River and in the large marina located on that river.
It was a carnival atmosphere which included all the wild rides and vendors and all the food and drink you could wish for. We watched the many smaller crafts venture up and down the river at dusk.
The weather was perfect for the event however the number of sail boats was down this year.
On Saturday morning we gathered at the mouth of the Black River to view all the sail boats as they ventured out into the St Claire River then north to Lake Huron. It was fantastic to see so many of the boat crew wearing the same colour tee shirts and in some cases no shirts at all....wooo hooo well, not the women!
The start of the race takes place three miles out in Lake Huron and they race up to Mackinac Island. It lasts about two and a half days.
This is part of the "Florida Family" and I'm flanked by Helen and Russ.
And Helen got in this one too.
And here you have one 'youngster' and one 'honeymooner' being their 'regular' selves!
This is a very haunting shot of the Black River loaded with boats at dusk.
